Pre-mixed and ready to use, the new Monostep Lowicryl Embedding Media saves time and minimizes chemical contact. Both products are fine for immunohistochemistry. They are based on the popular Lowicryl K4M and HM20 kits for low temperature embedding or freeze substitution. MonoStep products are especially appropriate for immunolabeling resulting in better preservation of antigenicity and lower background labeling, but are much more convenient to use than the original Lowicryl kits.

An understated potential safety risk:
We are addressing now the cured block, something that to most people is about as inert of a material as one will find. But the standard practice in many laboratories is to use a small jeweler's (or even a small hack) saw to cut the block down to the right size, sometimes even to shape it. We want to address the dust that is generated and how its exposure can and should be minimized.

Small bottle packaging:
Each of the two Lowicryl resin kits are available in  format, packaged in eight individual bottles, each of which contains roughly 30 ml of resin. The cost of the kit is more, however, packaged in this form permits their shipment at a much reduced shipping rate as  products. If you are in an international destination that can accept  shipments, this can save you a great deal of money ordering the  way.
