The SPI Supplies Brand gold crystal specimen consists of an ultra-thin layer
of gold grown epitaxially into single crystals that are oriented to display
the lattice spacings of 0.102nm, 0.143nm, and 0.204nm. These are physical constants of a specific
crystal structure and are therefore ideal calibration specimens for the
magnification of any TEM capable of resolving the lattice spacings.
