Introduction:
SPI Supplies now offers an ITO (indium-tin-oxide) custom coating service for
customers in industry, government and academia, in both research as well as
production quantities. We are experienced with applications for displays,
computer touch screens, and electrical control panels manufactured from
substrates of glass or plastic (polycarbonate, polyester, or acrylic). All
are available with or without busbar connections. We can coat substrates
supplied by SPI Supplies or by our customers who have special shapes to be coated.
What we offer
Summary of ITO custom coating service:
- Resistivities from 8 to 1500 ohms/sq on glass substrates and 10 to 1500 ohms/sq on plastic
- Shielding effectiveness typically 25 to 30 dB.
- Light transmission up to 90%.
- Excellent coating adhesion to substrate.
- Highly resistant to temperature, humidity, abrasion and salt spray.
- Available in size up to 1000mm by 1000mm.
- Coating of customer supplied substrates
- Stock sheets available.
Our most common applications:
For researchers, the most common application is for
ITO coated microscope slides.
But for our production quantity customers, the main applications are for
electromagnetic shielding, ESD protection, touch panels, and heated windows.

Note that all substrates, be they supplied by SPI Supplies or by our customers are subjected to a precleaning with proprietary solvents and then a plasma cleaning in order to remove all traces of contaminants and to promote adhesion of the ITO coating.
