Octoil-S Dioctylsebacate Diffusion Pump Fluid
Octoil-S is a low cost diffusion pump fluid. While good vacuum levels can be obtained, this fluid is very unforgiving if exposed to air while hot.

Octoil was widely used in older mass spectrometers such as Alcatel and Veeco helium leak detectors. This fluid is very sensitive to air inrush but is otherwise an excellent diffusion pump oil capable of trapped pressures to 1X10-8 torr.
Octoil-S is a higher purity version used primarily in microscopes and other analytical instruments.
