The pattern being observed is not
that of the grid mesh but a moiré effect.
SPI now is able to offer a high purity molybdenum mesh of the highest quality, higher in fact than what one normally presumes is possible with etching techniques. Moly has outstanding high temperature characteristics and is of course superior to copper, nickel and gold meshes especially in terms of thermal coefficients of expansion.

The original use of the SPI Supplies molybdenum mesh was as an electrode or a filter for either electrons or ions in some scientific instruments. We would not recommend trying to cut out circular discs for use as TEM grids.

Larger mesh sizes possible:
Our technology permits the production of larger size molybdenum mesh products. Let us know your specific requirements, keeping in mind that a special tooling charge would be involved for each different mesh produced. The standard mesh is 130, but other mesh sizes can be made upon request.
