Kammrath and Weiss

Stage Modules for SEM

SPI Supplies is proud to offer these Kammrath and Weiss modules to our North American customers.

Tensile Testing or Tensile/Compression
- For testing up to 10kN

This tensile module (compression as option) for the SEM (and a limited selection of Atomic Force Microscopes) fits on the sample stage just like an oversize specimen. The test objects should be 20 to 60 mm long, not thicker than 5 mm.

The tensile lead screws of the load frame are threaded with right and left pitches at their opposite ends. So the area in the middle from where the specimen elongates in both directions, will stand almost perfectly still.

The PC-controlled microprocessor electronics (DDS-3) with a large software package (MDS) is part of the standard shipment. A great number of test parameters and experiments routines are menu-guided, and easy to use. The program is especially suitable for cyclic tests. Many sub routines, such as compensation of the device’s individual flexure and online recording of the modulus of elasticity are integrated. Furthermore crack recognition, ramping, and many other functions are included. E.g. Video capturing is available as option and many further features more.

Many options are available for this system including a fiber tensile unit.

Transfer Module
-For easy transfer of sample from Glove Box to SEM

The "Transfer Module" is a special device for use with an SEM. It is made for the purpose of carrying delicate and sensitive specimens in a capsule from the SEM into a glove box or vice versa, so that these specimens will be protected from air or moisture at all times. This device will mount on the specimen stage just like a microscope sample. It takes just a few moments to install it in the SEM, or in the glove box.

The shipment volume contains the module, a vacuum tight flange, cable bundles, and two battery buffered controller for the opening/closing process. One controller stays at the SEM and other one inside the glove box.

The capsule may be prepared with all specimens under the protective gas atmosphere of a glove box. To run the opening/closing in the glove box also, a second (battery buffered) controller is part of the shipment. It will be transferred into the glove box through the air lock. Therefore modifications to the glove box are not necessary.
