This is one of those kinds of specimens that just shows up everywhere since
it is so versatile. It's primary use is with an SEM because the unique
structure of the prickly gold is about as ideal as one could hope in terms
of checking for astigmatism. The specimen itself consists of
100 mesh copper grid which has been given a unique proprietary coating of
"prickly" gold.
For the SEM application, the grid should be ordered "mounted", meaning that
we will mount the specimen on to the SEM mount of your choice. So be sure
to specify which mount would be your
top preference.
For TEM applications but when operating in the STEM or SEM mode, it would be
better to order the product unmounted.
For TEM, it is one of the best for checking and correcting for astigmatism
when operating in the SEM mode. Generally speaking for this kind of
application, the product should be ordered "unmounted".
