This is a reflected light micrograph of polished, carbon coated skutterudite crystals. The identifying etched label, which is a feature of our standards, is invaluable for navigating in an electron beam instrument.
This standard contains major amounts of cobalt, nickel and arsenic and is therefore useful when studying sulfide minerals.
It is named after the town of Skutterud in Norway.
