Primary Disciplines of Technical Expertise
- Polymer coatings are another frequent type of sample since in this
instance the sample is sectioned in a way that shows the entire coating
cross section as well as the situation with regard to the
coating/substrate interface. The results from such samples are more
easily understood and interpreted with the correct choice of control
samples, which more often than not, includes so called "good" vs. "bad"
comparisons. Very often problems involving adhesion involve improper
preparation of a substrate, in adequate dispersion of additives within
the coating, and also the use of an improper particle size for the
particles dispersed within the coating.
-
All polymer coatings work is done under the direction of Charles A. Garber, Ph. D.
who has had more than thirty years of professional experience characterizing
polymer coatings of different polymers, utilizing a large variety of different substrate
materials. He has also had experience with the characterization of a number
of otherwise difficult to thin section polymer topcoating systems such as
those involving PTFE or polyamine coatings or thin films.
