Small World Electron Flight Simulator Version 3.1E Software for Modelling of Electron Beam and X-ray
Electron Flight Simulator 3.1-E permits the user to do everything that can be done with Version 3.1 and also model the beam scatter in environmental and low vacuum SEMs. The obvious question for the microscopist is to determine, in advance of doing an experiment, how much will the beam scatter for a particular gas, pressure and working distance.
This newly released version is ideal for calculating the beam spread vs. chamber pressure for any gas being used. It also gives the vital information about the effective spot size of the beam and how it can affect the EDS results. One can put in values for the gas type, chamber pressure, and working distance, and observe immediately how these changes in the variables effect the amount of beam scatter. This kind of information is far more important for someone using an environmental or low vacuum SEM than one using a more conventional SEM.
Any of the EFS products will run on any IBM compatible PC running on Windows 3.1, Windows 95, or NT 4.0 or newer. If your microanalysis system runs on a PC, you can run any EFS product on it, independently of your EDS or WDS software.

NOTE: When you click on download the demo disk, you will be able to download the file EFSEDEMO.EXE. This file will download into a default directory for your browser. You can download it to any directory you specify. Once you download the file, run it by double clicking on it. The file will de-compress into a list of files. From this list, double click on the file SETUP.EXE. This will load the demo into a directory called EFS and create the program icon.
