The SPI-Chem™ Conductive Copper-Filled Diallyl Phthalate is ideal for electron beam instrument applications. It can be cured to a very hard mount, exhibiting good chemical resistance, if needed for electropolishing. The samples will resist rounding during mechanical polishing, of course such rounding is nearly impossible to prevent, at least slightly. The over all mounting procedure is similar to that used for Bakelite, Electropolish and replicate, samples will not round during mechanical polishing. Mounting procedure is the same as Bakelite™, since this is also a thermoset resin system.

Curing information:
Recommended cure conditions: 330°F (165°C) at 4200 psi * for 8 minutes for a 1 inch (25.4 mm) round mold. The cure time is a function of the size of the mount being made, for example, for a 1.25" (32 mm) mount, use ten minutes.

* Adjust molding pressure psi as necessary

Shelf life:
Nothing is forever but we have never had reported to us by any customer that the material has ever gone "bad" and we have offered this product since 1975. So we believe its shelf-life is quite long indeed.
