Flat Rate Charges for Shipping/Handling/Insurance for SPI Supplies®
Shipments
Puerto Rico: $44.00 flat rate program!
The policy simply stated:
The flat rate charge for shipping, handling, and insurance will be $44.00 for
courier air shipment by UPS or FedEx (selected by SPI
Supplies) to all customer destinations in Puerto Rico, irrespective of the
shipment's weight or commercial value. Included
are shipments that include 
products but excluded are shipments that contain dangerous goods.
This means that an order that consists of some tweezers, TEM grids,
Parafilm®, and SPI Supplies silver paint, which does
include an product (e. g. the silver paint) would ship under the
flat rate program to any business address (see important exception below) in
Puerto Rico.
However, such shipments would be subject to the special packaging charge,
to the degree necessary, to cover the
cost of the special packaging that makes possible the lower cost shipment.
Exceptions:
Keep in mind the following exceptions to the above policy statement:
- These special conditions apply only to shipments destined for Puerto Rico.
Shipments containing dangerous goods that are not described as
are not covered by this program.
- Addresses not considered to be bona fide business addresses by the
carrier (e. g. FedEx or UPS) are subject to a $15 residential address fee.
- The final arbiter as to whether an address is or is not a residential
address is the carrier, that is, UPS or FedEx.
Generally speaking, if one has sleeping accommodations at the address,
or if the property is not zoned for commercial use, the carrier designates such an address as a "residential" address.
Note that this program covers only the regular products sold by SPI Supplies and under no circumstances will we make such shipments for others.
The benefit to the customer:
Customers of SPI Supplies are able to estimate almost to the penny the actual credit card amount that will be
charged to their credit card for a credit card purchase. There is no need to waste time getting a "quote" since
all of the information necessary to calculate a total CIF amount will be available to the customer at the time
the order is placed.
Our customers in Puerto Rico have requested a flat rate program like this, and we offer it now in response to such
customer requests. Not only is it saving our customers money, but it makes ordering much simpler and the final
