The policy simply stated:
The flat rate charge for shipping, handling, and insurance will be $72.00 for shipment by UPS
or FedEx (selected by SPI Supplies) to all destinations in New Zealand, irrespective of the
shipment's weight or commercial value. But excluded would be any shipment that contains any
product(s) designated as being Dangerous Goods. This would also mean that we can not ship under
this flat rate program any product identified as being
.
This means that an order that consists of some
tweezers,
TEM grids,
Parafilm®,
and some embedding molds, could ship under the flat rate program from SPI Supplies in the USA
to any business address in New Zealand (see important exception below). But if your order
contains as much as a single dangerous goods item (for example, an SPI Easy Duster), then it could not be shipped under this program and would probably have
to go via air freight.
Note that we can not ship under this program to addresses in New Zealand any dangerous goods
products designated as being
. This is because the combination
of approvals needed between the New Zealand government, the courier services doing the shipping,
and SPI Supplies have not yet been consumated.
And of course, such shipments would be subject to the special "cold ship" charges should the
shipment include a product that is to be shipped refrigerated.
Exceptions:
Keep in mind the following exceptions to the above policy statement:
- Shipments containing dangerous goods that are not described as
are not covered by this program.
- Addresses not considered to be bona fide business addresses by the
carrier (e. g. FedEx or UPS) are subject to a residential address fee.
- The final arbiter as to whether an address is or is not a residential
address is the carrier, that is, UPS or FedEx. Generally speaking, if one
has sleeping accommodations at the address, or if the property is not
zoned for commercial use, the carrier designates such an address as a
"residential" address.
The benefit to the customer:
Customers of SPI Supplies in New Zealand are able to estimate almost to the penny the actual
credit card amount that will be charged to their credit card for a credit card purchase even
if ordering from New Zealand to the USA. There is no need to waste time getting a "quote" since
all of the information necessary to calculate a total CIF amount will be available to the
customer at the time the order is placed. So just decide what you want to order, the fob prices
are on the website, add $72.00 and that is the total price to you (except of course for any
customs duties, VAT, and any other local taxes, if applicable, that are paid on the buyer's end.
Some of our customers in New Zealand have requested a flat rate program like this, and we offer
it now in response to such customer requests. Certainly this is saving customers in New Zealand
considerable money even over making their purchases in Australia and then shipping to
New Zealand. Let us know how the SPI Supplies flat rate program works for you. Tell us how
we can improve on this innovative program for shipments to New Zealand.
