The policy simply stated:
The flat rate charge for shipping, handling, and insurance will be $ 93.00 for shipment
by UPS or FedEx (selected by SPI Supplies) to all destinations in Colombia, irrespective
of the shipment's weight or commercial value. But excluded would be any shipment that
contains any product(s) designated as being Dangerous Goods. This would also mean that
we can not ship under this flat rate program any product identified as being
,
except to "D" designated cities such as Bogata. A surcharge of $20.00 will be added to the flat rate to cover
additional FedEx delivery charges to "D" designated cities.
This means that an order that consists of some
tweezers,
TEM grids,
Parafilm®,
and some embedding molds, could ship under the flat rate program from SPI Supplies in the
USA to any business address in Colombia (see important exception below). But if your order
contains as much as a single item (for example, an SPI
OK Easy Duster), then it could not be shipped under this program and would
probably have to go via air freight. But if the order contained items such as SPI Silver Paint,
which while dangerous goods is also, an
designated product, then it could be shipped under this program.
The same would be true for example of SPI Supplies® Brand carbon paint.
However, such shipments would be subject to the special packaging charge, to the degree necessary, to
cover the cost of the
special packaging that makes possible the lower cost shipment. And of course, such shipments would be
subject to the special "cold ship" charges should the shipment include a product that is to
be shipped refrigerated.
Exceptions:
Keep in mind the following exceptions to the above policy statement:
- Shipments containing dangerous goods that are not described as
are not covered by this program.
- Addresses not considered to be bona fide business addresses by the
carrier (e. g. FedEx or UPS) are subject to a residential address fee.
- The final arbiter as to whether an address is or is not a residential
address is the carrier, that is, UPS or FedEx. Generally speaking, if one
has sleeping accommodations at the address, or if the property is not
zoned for commercial use, the carrier designates such an address as a
"residential" address.
The benefit to the customer:
Customers of SPI Supplies in Colombia are able to estimate to the penny the actual credit card
amount that will be charged to their credit card for a credit card purchase even if ordering from
Colombia. There is no need to waste time getting a "quote" since all of the information necessary
to calculate a total CIF amount will be available to the customer at the time the order is placed.
So just decide what you want to order, the fob prices are on the website, add $93.00 and that is
the total price to you (except of course for customs duties, VAT, and any other local taxes, if
applicable, that are paid on the buyer's end.
Our customers in Colombia have requested a flat rate program like this,
