Exceptions to Flat Rate Shipping/Handling/Insurance Programs
Not everything can qualify
At SPI Supplies we have tried very hard to keep ordering very simple and
straight forward so that our customers know to the penny what the final
delivered price is going to be (with the exception of customs duties or
other local taxes for international shipments).
However, there are two classes of materials that are not permitted to be
included in the flat rate program:
1] Dangerous goods that are in quantities larger than
size
quantities or even dangerous goods in
quantities going to certain
countries, and
2] Certain items that have, what we call, an "unattractive weight to value"
ratio, so that the real shipping charges paid to the shipper by SPI would
nearly always be comparable to or greater than the actual fob value of the
item in question. The number of products falling into this category are
very small, but to preserve the integrity of our shipping program, we have
had to exclude such products.
What happens if an order contains such items:
The shipping/handling/insurance costs will be calculated on the basis of
what they actually are. Since SPI Supplies benefits from some very large
discounts from the major courier services and air freight forwarders, and
since also, we never add any kind of mark up to these charges (as is often
times done by other firms in our industry), you can always be sure of
receiving your order for the lowest possible shipping charge.
If it is a website based order, and if the shipment can not be made using
the flat rate program, we will aways notify the customer for approval of the
billing for the actual shipping charges before the shipment is made.
