Export License Requirements

Some SPI products require an export license for export to certain countries

Because of the dual use possibilities for certain SPI Supplies products, it is necessary to obtain a United States government export license for their export to certain countries. This is very complicated, however for many items, there are threshold levels, which are exempt from the licensing requirements. For example, the diffusion pump fluid, Santovac 5 is deemed to be one of those "controlled" substances. However, if a particular country is on the list maintained by the U. S. Department of Commerce, there are also usually threshold quantities so that a license is not needed after all. However, there are some countries or institutions within certain countries, that require an export license no matter what is being exported, and further information about such countries is maintained by the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security BIS). This list has been implemented in the Export Administration Regulations by the BIS as Supplement 4 to the Part 744 of the Export Administration Regulations, know as the "Entity List", to provide notice informing the public of export license requirements related to these entities.

Note: These requirements apply to anyone else in the USA who might be ordering these products and either exporting them themselves or carrying them out side of the USA themselves. These items can not be reshipped from other countries without the express permission of SPI Supplies since the items still can not be legally shipped to the countries otherwise requiring an export license.

The following is a listing of those items sold by SPI Supplies for which an export license is required:

Santovac 5 Diffusion Pump Fluid: Purchase quantities of less than $3000 are exempt from the export license requirements.

This list is constantly changing and it is difficult to keep up to date, however should you have any questions or concerns, be sure to ask us.
