Save money on a previously owned system or show demo
With the passing of time, SPI Supplies ends up with a certain amount of
previously owned equipment and show demonstrators. All products purchased from
this page carry a new instrument warranty. The items featured here tend to be
for 115v operation; equipment for 220v operation will be specially indicated as
being for 220v operation.
The equipment that we call previously owned would be items that were actually
at one time "titled" and were outside of the ownership of SPI Supplies and
Structure Probe, Inc. There are a number of reasons how we could end up with
equipment that has been previously owned:
- Turned back in at the end of a lease term
- Laboratory contraction or downsizing
- Company bankruptcy
- Used in Structure Probe, Inc. analytical services laboratory
When such items come back into the possession of the SPI service department known
problems are fixed, scratches are refinished as best we can, and the
equipment is literally taken apart and inspected and anything showing even the
slightest signs of wear are replaced with new parts. Typically the discounts can
be substantial but will vary depending on the amount of age on the unit being
offered.
The units offered this way are truly one-of-a-kind items and are sold on a first
come/first served basis. We can not wait for funding to be approved and we can
not wait for letters of credit to be opened. However, for anyone interested in
one of these previously owned or demo units, for customers with established
accounts with SPI we will take the system off the market for a maximum of 48
hours, after which time, absent a valid order or payment , we will put it back
onto the market.
Equipment designated as a show demo would be an item that has never been out of the custody or ownership of
SPI Supplies and its sold use has been for demonstrations at trades shows
and also at our corporate facilities for prospective customers. The
"defects" tend to be truly cosmetic in nature, scratches, "bruises", that
kind of blemishes one would expect from having a piece of equipment shipped
to one or more trade shows. Typically the discounts on show demo are
less than on previously owned equipment.
The listing of previously own/demo units is constantly changing and we can not
predict when we might have available at such a discount any particular piece of
equipment.
