Important Message:
For roughly six months in early 2004, the plant manufacturing the Vacseal^® family of products had been having difficulties producing product. Delivery times were very very long and any orders placed for Vacseal^® were being accepted only with the understanding that the delivery time will be sometime off into the indefinite future.

We can now report that the plant has been solving its problems and production is now back on line for all of the original Vacseal^® products, including Vacseal^® II Clear, but some problems still remain for the Vacseal^® II Blue product. Vacseal^®II Clear is in stock and available for immediate shipment. And on behalf of the manufacturers of Vacseal, we can offer apologies for the delivery disruption that occurred during the first half of 2004

Differences between the Vacseal^®products:
Vacseal^® II to essentially a reformulated (original) Vacseal^® designed to accomplish certain objectives:

Reduction of VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds)
Increase concentration of polymeric components, giving it a higher viscosity than the original Vacseal^® product.
Produce a product more suited for production line applications for the cementing (sealing) the sealed end of cathode ray tubes of all types.
Generally works on normally difficult to seal quartz/tungsten seals.

The basic desire was to make a "greener" form of Vacseal^®, one that would have greatly reduced VOC's such as methylene chloride (no longer present at all). And at the same time, a higher viscosity product was needed for some emerging production applications for the cementing of glass seals on picture tubes and other types of cathode ray tubes. While we believe the original Vacseal^® is still going to perform better for the sealing of the typical kinds of vacuum leaks, the Vacseal^® II product can be used in those localities and jurisdictions where lower levels of VOC's in products is mandatory. Quite a bit is known about Vacseal^® II and this information should be helpful in the guiding of decisions.

Originally available in two colors:
Vacseal^® II was originally available in both "clear" and "blue" formulations. Some of our customers found that the "blue" Vacseal^® did not perform up to expectations and we traced their problem to the presence of the blue dye. Consequently, the blue formulation is no longer available and no further production is contemplated at this time.

Vacseal^® II comes only in liquid bulk bottles and does not come in aerosol form in part because of the higher viscosity. Choose from two different container sizes.

Curing conditions:
Vacseal^® II can be cured under a wide range of conditions.

Shelf life:
We are often times asked this question. Unlike some vacuum leak sealant products, the stability of Vacseal^® II, in comparison is infinite. Well, nothing really does last forever, but so far as we have been able to determine, we do not know of any short term time frame where the product should be discarded. However, we would suggest that after three years one could expect to see at least some reduction in the otherwise excellent properties of Vacseal^®II and therefore, for critical applications, we would suggest that after three years, the product should be discarded and replaced. For reasons not completely understood, the stability of Vacseal^® II is less in the quart containers than in the small bottles. Therefore we do not offer Vacseal^® II in quart containers unless specifically asked to do so and we can then be sure that our customer would appreciate that the product should be used quickly and not put into storage for use at a later time.
