Explanation of Hazardous Labels

Celvaseal® leak sealant is compounded especially for sealing leaks in high and ultra-high vacuum systems. It will repair leaks as large as 2 micron liters per second with the system under vacuum. This high vacuum sealant can also be used to repair larger leaks when the system is at atmosphere.

We suggest that when VacSeal is not available, the use of Celvaseal® should be considered. Celvaseal® is more viscous than VacSeal, which may be an advantage for sealing suspected leaks in vertical and overhanging surfaces. Examples of the uses of Celvaseal® include:
  1. Glass to metal seals, including Kovar™ joints.
  2. UHV systems with metal gaskets and/or high penetration welds which "open up". The sealant fluid carrier will allow the liquid to be drawn into the suspect area, and the sealant can be cured according to the schedule below.
  3. Small leaks in glass vacuum systems.
  4. Temporary repairs of small cracks in external exposed gasketed flanges.
  5. Hairline cracks in welds. It is important to allow the liquid to be drawn into the crack before curing the sealant.
  6. Brazed connections such as copper tubing to brass valve housings.
  7. As a pipe thread sealant for mounting of sensors and other components to vacuum systems. Celvaseal® is an electrical insulator, and care should be taken to avoid getting the liquid on any electrical contacts. Celvaseal® may be used at temperatures up to 300ēC continuously, and up to 400ēC for short periods.

AVERAGE CURING TEMPERATURE SCHEDULE
400ēC - 20-30 minutes
250ēC - 60-70 minutes
230ēC - 75-90 minutes
Room Temperature - 24 hours
Storage stability at 25ē C one year
