Castrol Braycote 1636 is a smooth, translucent white colored NLGI Grade 1 compound based upon an inert perfluoropolyether oil thickened with a fluorinated thickener. This product is nonflammable and is chemically inert to strong oxidizers, fuels, aggressive acids, and alkalies. Castrol Fluoroclean™ X100 and Castrol Fluoroclean™ HE can be used to remove this lubricant. Refer to the data sheets for information regarding these products.
Braycote 1636 has been designed as a general purpose, light duty, assembly compound and anti-galling compound. It can be used in applications where material compatibility is extremely important. Perfluorinated greases, in general, exhibit excellent shelf lives due to their intrinsic inertness.
-29°C TO 177°C (-20°F to 350°F)
Braycote 1636 is compatible with commonly used plastic, elastomer, and metallic construction materials. It may be adversely affected by Lewis acids such as aluminum chloride, at elevated temperatures. Newly exposed rubbing surfaces of aluminum, titanium, or magnesium alloys may also react with Braycote 1636 under certain conditions. Such systems should be thoroughly evaluated prior to use. Surfaces must be well cleaned of organic rust inhibitors prior to grease application to insure proper lubrication.
The composition of this product is a mixture of small PTFE particles (which won't dissolve in anything) and a perfluorinated polyether liquid. We have found that Castrol® Fluoroclean™ HE is an effective solvent for the liquid component of the formulated composition and aids in the removal of the grease from places where it is no longer needed or wanted.
Braycote 1636 is available in 1 pound jars.
