The SPI Supplies brand of camel hair brushes are of the very finest quality possible. These really are camel hair, despite unfounded rumors that they are not.

To many, a brush is a brush, but for those who have learned the fine art of discerning brushes made from different types of hair, there is nothing quite like hair from the camel. And believe it or not, not all camel hair is the same, and some hair is more desireable when converted into a brush than other camel hair. Ancient cartographers in the far east discovered centuries ago that not all camels are created equal. In any case, we have gone to great lenghts to make sure that what is offered by SPI Supplies, is the very finest brush quality camel hair possible.

Construction:
The SPI Supplies brand camel hair brush uses a design whereby an aluminum sleeve firmly holds the camel hairs in place. While it is an inexpensive product, this design does lead to a long useful lifetime and with virtually no hair loss (important when one does not want contaminating hairs in the material being brushed).

Main applications:
There is almost no end to the number of applications we are finding for camel hair brushes. A few or the more important ones are outlined here:

Microscopy:
Experienced microscopists know that the unique combination of stiffness and response, for many applications, make the camel hair brush the preferred brush for working with fine powders, "brushing" samples on to SEM mounts, moving histological or other sections, handling of organic crystals too fragile to pick up with tweezers, and even for removing certain lightly held dust or other particles from fragile microscope surfaces such as aperture holders. Those using our Tacky Dot™ Slides find the camel hair brushes indispensible for brushing off excess particles when preparing their slides.

Cartography:
It is our understanding that the most famous far eastern cartographers would use nothing other than camel hair brushes. And as indicated above, the hair was not from just any "run of the mill" camel, it could be taken only from certain very special camels that had these particular characteristics to their hair.

Painting:
Interesting effects can be obtained with both oil and water color when using camel hair brushes.

Kit contents:
Each camel hair brush kit contains one of three different brushes, size #2, 4, and 6, each with its own set of characteristics for different types of powders or if for other applications, then other properties.
