They are especially handy and useful for marking photographic prints or any other "glossy" kind of surface including glass, china, plastic, or metal. The markings rub off easily with a dry tissue or lint-free cotton wiper or even a Kimwipe®. To "sharpen", one needs only to "unravel" the wrapper.
