SPI Bell Bright™
This unique aerosol spray product was developed to ease the time consuming task of cleaning glass bell jars. Simply spray this water soluble polymer onto the inside surface of a freshly cleaned bell jar. The polymer coating forms a clear barrier between the bell jar wall and hard-to-clean metallic and carbon deposits. When it comes time to clean the bell jar, warm soapy water alone dissolves the Bell Bright polymer coating, rinsing away the deposits along with it. Stubborn spots clean up easily with a little help from a bit of acetone. One wash does in minutes what used to take hours of acid soaking. Besides saving time, Bell Bright reduces the use of and exposure to expensive and potentially toxic solvents.
Vacuum compatibility:
Bell Bright itself is obviously not vacuum compatible since it contains propellants and solvents. But once sprayed onto the bell jar surface, the propellants quickly evaporate leaving behind the water soluble which is vacuum compatible. Since it is water soluble, we worried that it could absorb moisture and present a challenge to the vacuum system. But after nearly thirty years of the life of this product, we have never had anyone tell us that the use of Bell Bright increased pump down time. Our own experience has been with the use of Bell Bright in vacuum evaporators in electron microscope laboratories. We don't know if this would be the experience of some other user with some other application. And since a polymer is involved, Bell Bright should never be applied to any surface that could be heated.

SPI Metal Bright™
This unique aerosol product has been optimized for use on metal surfaces, including metal bell jars and metal fixtures. Use of Metal Bright makes clean-up after vacuum deposition a breeze! Simply spray SPI Metal Bright onto the metal surfaces of vacuum deposition equipment, contact masks and shields...any metal surface. A quick wipe with a damp cloth, using warm water, will clean away all of this water-soluble polymer coating plus the deposited materials that adhere. No more hours spent scraping the inside of your vacuum chamber! Or struggling to clean fixtures inside the vacuum chamber. And contact masks enjoy much longer lifetimes without the constant rubbing and scraping.
