"Space Saver" Vacuum Desiccator in Three Sizes Shatterproof, yet light and strong, these desiccators will hold a vacuum of 740 mm of Hg for 24 hours. The clear polycarbonate top has added strength to eliminate danger of implosion under vacuum, and the polypropylene lower section provides excellent chemical resistance. A PTFE plug turns easily to allow controlled entrance of air and a Neoprene® "O" ring seal requires no grease. The perforated plate is 3.2mm in diameter and is made from polypropylene.
Desiccant needed: The three Space Saver Vacuum Desiccators, for them to operate in the "drying" or "desiccating" mode, require an appropriate desiccant.
We are talking about the situation where the chamber is being used without vacuum and only as a desiccating volume. In such a case, we would recommend either SPI-Dry™ Basic Desiccating Canister or the SPI Desiccant Capsules. This is a far superior approach than the one where some powder desiccant material is placed in the bottom of several petri dishes since the powder has more than a passing chance of powder-contaminating the samples being stored.
