Introduction to Cryo Gloves®:
Cryo-Gloves are multi layer insulated gloves designed to provide protection to the hands and arms from the hazards encountered when working with ultra cold. They are light weight, flexible, durable, clean, allow for excellent dexterity, are very comfortable to wear for extended periods, and are extremely warm.

The Cryo-Gloves® line of gloves for cryogenic applications are manufactured in three configurations: Standard Water Repellent, 100% Waterproof and Industrial Quality. The first three configurations are recommended for use with liquid nitrogen. The Standard Water Repellent can be used where the protection is to be mainly against cold as opposed to protection against quantities of splashing liquid, in which case, the 100% Waterproof version should be used. The Industrial Quality configuration adds the protection of abrasion resistance and better gripping properties. Under no circumstances, however, should any of these three liquid nitrogen gloves be used with liquid oxygen. None of these gloves are designed to offer protection against immersion in cryogenic liquids. All of these gloves are designed to provide protection against the hazards of extreme cold, but even the Industrial version has limited abrasion resistance. These gloves should not be confused with work gloves designed for heavy wear.

Note that all types of these gloves were developed to offer protection from ultra cold, in temperatures ranging from -160°C to +148°C. They are currently being used worldwide for use with cryogenic gases, low temperature freezers, dry ice, cold rooms, etc. You will find the Cryo-Gloves being used in biomedical, laboratory research, industry, aerospace, frozen food processing, and wherever protection from the hazards of ultra-cold is necessary. One should never attempt the transferal of liquid nitrogen from a liquid nitrogen dewar without the use of this kind of hand protection.

Safety is a very important consideration for SPI Supplies and while we realize that gloves similar in appearance are manufactured in other countries and sometimes sold for lower prices, the SPI lines of these gloves are all produced in the USA, to the highest safety standards, using USA made starting materials.

Details of the unique construction:
The sequence of insulating layers, or inner glove, is the same three layers in all models. This consists of three layers: two thin layers of insulation material which are bonded together only at the edges of each piece, thereby enabling more insulating air to be trapped without adding additional weight or bulk, and the lining material, which also has a high insulating value, and is specially designed to wick moisture away from the skin. The cuffs, with the exception of the wrist length (WR Model), maintain the same outer shell material and construction as the glove hands. The inner portion, or insulating layers, consists of three layers: one layer of insulation, the lining material, and a nylon tricot scrim laminated to the outer surface for added strength and dimensional stability. The wrist (WR) style incorporates an uninsulated Nylon® Cordura® knit cuff. The 100% Waterproof Cryo-Glove adds a thin, seamless, 100% waterproof, breathable, seamless inner protective layer to give additional protection against liquids without added bulk or loss of dexterity. The Industrial Quality Cryo-Glove has the palm and thumb areas made from an extremely tough and abrasion resistant material made of a nylon Cordura substrate, impregnated with a proprietary polymer-neoprene compound.

A note on sizes and lengths:
The Cryo-Gloves and Waterproof Cryo-Gloves are available in four sizes: Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large. These four sizes correspond to "European" sizes of 8, 9, 10, and 11 respectively. They are available in Wrist, Mid-Arm, Elbow and Shoulder Lengths. At this time, the Industrial Quality Cryo-Gloves are available in Medium, Large and Extra Large. At this time, the Industrial Quality Cryo-Gloves are available only in the Mid-Arm length. We find that the Mid-Arm length is the most popular.
