Introduction to anaglyphic stereo:
Ever have the need to communicate information contained in stereo pairs to large groups of people, either via a report, or a presentation to a large group of people? The SPI Anaglyphic Stereo Viewers are the perfect answer to these requirements. They can be sent along with a report or even included with a text book that includes an anaglyphic print (any photograph made up of two slightly different views in to different contrasting colors, of the same object). "But irrespective of whether we call them stereo viewers or stereo glasses", they are highly effective in communicating depth information in any stereo image irrespective of how it was obtained. If you have two images that have parallax, no matter how they were obtained, they can be converted to an anaglyphic stereo image and viewed in stereo using these stereo glasses.

We are often asked about how easy it is to communicate stereo information contained in electron micrographs. We have therefore started a Table of Examples of Anaglyphic Stereo in Microscopy.

SPI Supplies has available two types of anaglyphic stereo glasses: Inexpensive throw aways made from paper construction and high quality plastic frames for permanent retention and use. Actually the lenses are of a much higher quality in the plastic frames, and there is a significant difference in the perceived stereo effect when comparing the two different qualities. The styles featuring the plastic frames reportedly exhibit 400% higher visual resolution than the lenses used in the paper frame products. However, for mass distribution, either at a scientific meeting audience or in the cover of a book or journal publication, the paper construction, for economic reasons is going to be the only option.
