This is a reflected light micrograph of polished, carbon coated willemite crystals.
The identifying etched label, which is a feature
of our standards, is invaluable for navigating in an electron beam instrument.
This standard offers a major
quantity of zinc in a silicate matrix, as well as providing an
excellent means of locating the electron beam through its bright
green cathodoluminescence. It is named after King Willem I
of the Netherlands.
