SPI Conductive Silver Paint

with easy to use brush-in-cap
Biggest selling silver paint in the world! Use SPI Silver Paint for affixing samples to specimen mounts, or for attaching specimens in the microprobe and tilting stages of transmission electron microscopes (TEMs).

The SPI Silver Paint is formulated with a small amount of a special polymer to give the product extra adhesive characteristics, but without degrading the otherwise outstanding out-gassing characteristics. Read on for even more useful application information in other fields. We also can report a considerable amount of data on the physical and mechanical properties of the cured silver films that result from the use of the SPI Supplies Silver Paint.

Use at elevated temperatures
Although silver does not melt until 961.78°C (1763.2°F), from a practical standpoint, its maximum use temperature is significantly below this temperature. For one thing, the silver surfaces starts to oxidize and nitride, as well as silver's well known ability to start to form tarnish (usually a sulfide). Conventional wisdom might suggest heating in a vacuum however, at round 600°C, the sublimation rate of silver in a vacuum becomes so appreciable, that it could end up causing damage to one's equipment. If you are faced with this problem, we recommend consideration of the SPI Supplies Platinum Paint.

If the SPI Silver Paint paint dries out, unlike some other silver paints, it can be re-suspended with the addition of SPI #05004 Silver Paint Thinner followed by an ultrasonic bath treatment.

Flash-Dry™ Silver Paint Thinner

For best results, that will duplicate the characteristics of the original "as received" product, always dilute with this fine thinner. From a toxicity standpoint, this thinner is a bit more of a "bad actor" than the regular SPI Silver Paint Thinner.
