Bulk purchasers of silver suspension

Introduction:
We at SPI Supplies have been asked many times by customers about purchasing the basic suspension that is formulated for packaging into the SPI Silver Paint system, originally developed for applications in the SEM (scanning electron microscope) laboratory but also for a number of other applications requiring a high performance high solids silver paint. For example, this fine uniformly air-drying silver suspension us used widely for the attachment of electrodes in research laboratories, for touching up hair line cracks in printed circuit boards, as well as novelty applications involving screen printing onto cotton and other fabric. It also has applications in electroplating and electronics as well as decorative ceramics and fine china. The SPI silver paint formulation has been successfully used in the production of tantalum capacitors.

Comments about repackaging:
There is interest in some high volume SEM laboratories in purchasing the suspension in bulk and then refilling their own used-up bottles of SPI silver paint, saving money on the purchase of altogether new bottles of paint.

The repackaging operation of this bulk suspension is more complicate that what might at first appear because the silver solids have a tendency to settle out quite quickly, something not immediately evident to the eye. This means that for any kind of repackaging, it is imperative that the bulk bottle be vigorously and constantly stirred. If this is not done, there there be an unacceptable variation in bottle-to-bottle silver solids, since the silver colloid tends to settle out so quickly.
