SPI Chem Wet Surface Replica Kit
Instructions for Use:
Metallization of the positive replicas
We recommend sputter coating with gold, typically a bit more than the "normal" 10 to 20 nm,
in order to impart maximum reflectivity when viewed by stereo zoom light microscope. Since
one never looks at these positives at magnifications greater than about 700X (structure from
the replicating system starts to be resolved), this additional thickness of gold coating has
no deleterious effect.
Gold palladium is an acceptable metallization as well, however gold is to be preferred because
of the shorter sputtering times, which reduce the exposure to radiant heat of the polymer of
the positive replica.
