For Embedding specimens - an advanced formula cold mounting resin which dries clear and very hard overnight. Most users will need some epoxy mold release agent as well. Of the various alternatives, this resin cures almost clear and certainly cures to the clearest block of the various metallographic type resins. Another advantages is that this particular resin system does not require a mounting press as do the thermosets.
Just about any metal or ceramic piece can be mounted and polished this way using this embedding system. It can also be used with certain plastics that would otherwise melt (or be annealed and changed) if traditional mounting materials were used. It is also used by those mounting wood samples.
We suggest the use of the SPI-Chem™ Epoxy Release Agent to mimic the adhesion of the epoxy to SPI Supplies ring form and other molds.
