Introduction:
High quality tips on the ends of carbon rods are a "must" for the highest quality coatings. The SPI Carbon Rod Sharpener features a high precision grinding wheel that rotates around a stationary rod, making a perfect point every time. Each SPI Supplies brand sharpener comes with one drilled and two blank collets (to secure the rods in the correct position).

Universal fittings for 1/8" (3 mm), 3/16" (4.8 mm) or 1/4" (6.1 mm) diameter rods:
One sharpener, good for all three common sizes! No longer do you need two or three different rod sharpeners. 1/4" adapter comes supplied with the sharpener. Optional size adapters of 1/8" and 3/8" can be purchased separately at an additional cost. (Substitutions are not allowed).

Frequently asked Question:
Will the sharpener work as well on carbon rods as it does on graphite rods? Keep in mind that the rods any one person might be using, although they are called "carbon" rods, might in fact be graphite rods. Actually the SPI Sharpeners will work for either rod, however, with graphite, the cutting is somewhat smoother and there is less "chipping". This is of course true of any cutting operation when carbon is compared with graphite.
