ANOPORE™ Inorganic Aluminum Oxide Membrane Filters

Description of the unique membrane structure

Aluminum Oxide Membrane Filters Aluminum Oxide Membrane Filters

Description of the structure:

The underlying structure for all three pore sizes is the honeycomb (some would say monolith) structure shown above. The diameter of the cells is tightly controlled at 0.2 µm and it is the same structure used for all three pore sizes.

There is a top surface membrane applied for the two smaller pore sizes (0.01 and 0.02 µm) of thickness of either 2 or 4 µm respectively. Holes are put into this membrane of the desired exclusion size, with the smaller pore size having a thinner membrane skin and the larger pore size having the thicker membrane skin.

The starting purity of the aluminum metal use in the first step for the manufactured of the membranes is 0.99999 pure so any extraneous elements picked up during the manufacturing operation are in the trace element range.
