emTUTORIAL™ System

Use as a self-instruction tool or instructional aid for class labs

The emTUTORIAL is an interactive tutorial system which runs on IBM compatible PC's. The system's programs, emTUTOR and semTUTOR have been designed to be used as a self-instruction tool, an instructional aid for class laboratories and for lecture demonstrations.

These tutorials provide the student with animated ray diagrams of the operation of transmission and scanning electron microscopes. A diagram of a section of the microscope is shown and the user can adjust "controls" from the keyboard to see their effect, both on ray paths and the displayed lens currents, beam currents, etc.

The emTUTORIAL system menu offers three main sections:

The Gun - showing the electron gun from cathode to anode.
The Condenser - showing the first and second condenser lens.
Imaging - which shows the column from the specimen down to the screen.

The comprehensive manual (included) explains, in detail, what everything means in EM terms. It even includes a Quiz section! at the end of the text, which can be answered from the program.
