This is the original version, developed before today's wide popularity of environmental SEMs. Since the physics of the interactions has not changed, Version 3.1 is as current and up-to-date today as it was in 1996 when it was first introduced.

Hence, for users of non-environmental SEMs, but interested in only the modelling of electron beam and x-ray interactions, you have the chance to "get behind the wheel" so to speak and experience these real-life examples:

Electron Flight Simulator runs on any IBM compatible PC running under Windows 3.1, 95, 2000 and XP. If your microanalysis system runs on a PC, your can run EFS on it, independently of your EDS or WDS software.

Download the demo disk for Version 3.1 and give it a try!
Hold the SHIFT key while clicking above to download demo. But you hold down the shift key momentarily, because once the download window appears, you can release the SHIFT key.

NOTE: When you click on download the demo disk, you will be able to download the file EFSDEMO.EXE. This file will download into a default directory for your browser. You can download it to any directory you specify. Once you download the file, run it by double clicking on it. The file will de-compress into a list of files. From this list, double click on the file SETUP.EXE. This will load the demo into a directory called EFS and create the program icon. Once the program is loaded, double click on the airplane icon to run the program. Please contact us at once if you have any problems with this procedure.
