Alleviate the dirt and dust-attraction problems caused by electrostatic charges with these proven static neutralizers. The polonium 210 element emits alpha particles (positively charged helium atoms) that collide with molecules of air, creating a supply of oxygen and nitrogen ions sufficient to neutralize both positive and negative static charges. Brushes have a useful life of at least one year, and are dated to indicate when the polonium element should be replaced. Ionizing units have a useful life of up to one year from date of manufacture.

Note of caution:

Often times, the Staticmaster brushes are used to help remove dust clinging, due to static charge, from the surfaces of lenses, including the large condenser lenses sometimes found in darkroom enlargers. We recommend against pressing the brush into the surface of the lens (or mirror) being cleaned because this could drag hard contaminants (such as a sand particle) across the microns-thin optical coatings often found on the surfaces of lenses today. Also, all efforts should be taken to avoid bringing the brush in contact with oils, even such as oils from fingerprints. This could contaminate the brush and spread the oily contaminant to the lens.

Regulatory requirements:

All prospective customers should be sure to read the MSDS exemption statement. For customers in other countries, this may not apply. Please check with your local regulatory authorities if in doubt. Be sure to keep in mind some of the alternative approaches, while not necessarily being quite as effective, might get the job done just the same, for example, Static Wisk® and Zerostat® Antistatic Gun.

Some additional words about safety:
We must not lose sight of the fact that Po210 is highly toxic, emits alpha particles and is regulated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Fortunately, the matrix in which it is encased, renders probability of exposure extremely small unless the matrix is damaged by abrasion or grinding so as to generate dust particles that may be inhaled.

This product is generally recognized as being safe because the potential for exposure is extremely low. Obviously, we can not keep someone from trying to cut this product open and perhaps metallographical polishing it. So there are limits to what we can guarantee. When all factors are considered, we truly believe this product to be safe if used as instructed. 1" Wide Brush by Staticmaster®

This unit neutralizes static across a 2" wide area in one pass. It is especially suitable for use in 35mm photography and for cleaning small lenses, mirrors and parts. Polonium -210 is present in the "element" at a level of 250 microcuries.
