Micro-Sight™ Grain Focusing Magnifier

Instructions for use

Before using the Micro-Sight, it should be adjusted to the eye of the user. This is done by placing the instrument on the easel. Turn on the enlarger lamp. Adjust the upper eye piece until the center of the internal hair line is sharp and clear. Now it is ready for use.

Place the Micro-Sight on the trial piece of paper in the easel. The enlarger should be focused in the usual manner. Adjust the focus slowly until the grain appears and begins to separate. As the focus sharpens the grain will become apparent at the precise point of absolute sharp focus. Each grain will be clearly visible.

The best sharpness and contrast is at one particular lens opening. This is usually found two or three stops from the largest opening. Maximum sharpness is not obtainable at all diaphragm settings. Find the sharpest opening and it should always be used. The Micro-Sight will find the sharpest possible focus with andy other opening if desired.

The triple element achromatic lens system of the Micro-Sight assures and extremely bright, highly magnified image of the surface of the negative. The grain of the negative is magnified 75 times for a three time enlargement! 100 times for a four times enlargement! 275 times for an 11 X 14 enlargement!

The MIKODOT SUPERBRIGHT mirror used in the Micro-Sight is made by depositing the reflecting medium on the front surface of the optically ground and polished glass.

Reflection from this mirror is sharp and clear, free from "GHOSTS" or double images, as is the case with regular or second surface mirrors.

The MIKODOT SUPERBRIGHT mirror has a 1/42 wave length coating of silicon monoxide over the surface. This permits the mirror to be cleaned.

Reflectivity of the MIKEDOT SUPERBRIGHT mirror is 85% or better! This is in contrast to the regular mirrors where reflectivity is much less.

The MIKODOT SUPERBRIGHT mirror can be cleaned with a lens brush, clean absorbent cotton, or soft lint free cotton. If smudged or finger marked was the mirror with alcohol, mild soap and water, or lens cleaning fluid using clean absorbent cotton or soft lintfree cotton.
