Before using the Micro-Sight, it should be adjusted to the eye of the user.
This is done by placing the instrument on the easel. Turn on the enlarger lamp.
Adjust the upper eye piece until the center of the internal hair line is sharp and
clear. Now it is ready for use.
Place the Micro-Sight on the trial piece of paper in the easel. The enlarger should be focused in the usual manner. Adjust the focus slowly until the grain appears and begins to separate. As the focus sharpens the grain will become apparent at the precise point of absolute sharp focus. Each grain will be clearly visible. The best sharpness and contrast is at one particular lens opening. This is usually found two or three stops from the largest opening. Maximum sharpness is not obtainable at all diaphragm settings. Find the sharpest opening and it should always be used. The Micro-Sight will find the sharpest possible focus with andy other opening if desired. |
