Extend the shelf life of darkroom chemicals by using the no-air concept collapsable darkroom chemical
storage bottles. Simply compress the "pleated" bottle (cap still off)
until the top of the liquid it at the top of the lip of the bottle. Then
screw on the air-tight cap! When empty, the bottle can be expanding back
to full capacity, cleaned and reused. The construction of the bottle is
of heavy gage polyethylene. We won't guarantee that these bottles
last "forever" but we have never heard of a bottle from SPI Supplies ever
failing in use.
So just how long will darkroom chemicals "last"?
Here at SPI Supplies, we have a busy darkroom. While we don't use it for
printing, we do use it daily for developing the MACO electron microscope film
from our transmission electron microscope. It has been our
experience that a fresh solution of Kodak D-19 developer can be kept for
roughly a month using our Air Reduction Darkroom Photo Chemical Storage
Bottles. Of course, this time period is going to vary to some degree on how
many times the bottle is opened to withdraw solution.
