Titanium Disc Embedding Ring is used in embedding cross sections is greatly simplified, since the samples do not need to be glued together prior to embedding. In order to fix the sample(s) in the ring it is deformed mechanically by an appropriate tool at the two points marked by the arrows. This deformation will both hold the sample in the ring and press both sample pieces together before gluing.

SPI Wet Cell™ Kits for SEM and BSE Applications

Examine biological samples "live" in the wet cell made from the SPI Supplies silicon nitride membrane window grids. Resolution is determined by the membrane thickness and the 20 nm silicon nitride membrane thickness, which is far thinner than any polymer membrane, permits an up-until-now an impossible to achieve resolution using a wet cell and backscattered electron imaging techniques. The wet cell approach can be used for the characterization of emulsions, liquid suspensions and other otherwise difficult to examine wet samples.

For users of FESEM instruments in particular, this new model of this compact unit offers a coating that is amorphous and therefore one that exhibits no grain size. It also deposits a coating that is completely inert, won't change with time, and has a major advantage over chromium coating since chromium after a very short time has oxidized beyond the point where the sample would still be conductive for examination by SEM. Up to 4 individual samples can be coated at one time in this newest model of this exciting technology for metallizing SEM samples.
