Section 3: Hazard Identification

Emergency overview:

Routes of exposure: Inhalation, Ingestion, Skin Contact, Eye Contact

Potential Health Effects
There are no reports in the literature of adverse effects attributed to zinc
sulfide, which comprises >99% of this product.

Eye: If irritation occurs, flush with copious amounts of water. If
irritation persists, seek medical attention.

Skin: If irritation occurs, thoroughly wash affected area with mild
soap and water and prevent further contact. If irritation persists, seek
medical attention.

Ingestion: If person is conscious, and if substantial quantities are
swallowed, give large quantity of water to drink, induce vomiting and seek
medical attention.

Inhalation: If irritation or other symptoms occur, remove from exposure.
Seek medical attention.

Chronic:
Not known.

Section 4: First Aid Measures

Eyes: If irritation occurs, flush with copious amounts of water. If irritation
persists, seek medical attention.

Skin: If irritation occurs, thoroughly wash affected area with mild soap and water
and prevent further contact. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.

Ingestion: If person is conscious, and if substantial quantities are swallowed,
give large quantity of water to drink, induce vomiting and seek medical attention.

Inhalation: If irritation or other symptoms occur, remove from exposure.
Seek medical attention.

Notes to Physician:
Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Section 5: Fire Fighting Measures

Flash Point: Not available

Flammable Limits:
	LEL: Not available
	UEL: Not available

General Information:
No fire hazard.

Extinguishing Media:
Use extinguishing agents suitable for the surrounding fire.

Special Fire Fighting Procedures:
Use a self-contained breathing apparatus to prevent inhalation of dust, mist and/or fumes that may be generated during fire fighting activities.

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards:
None

Section 6: Accidental Release Measures

General Information:
Dispose of in accordance with all federal, state and local regulations.

Spills/Leaks:
Ventilate spill area. Clean-up using methods which avoid dust generation,
such as vacuuming (with appropriate filter to prevent airborne dust levels
which exceed the PEL or TLV), wet dust mop, or wet clean-up. If airborne
dust is generated, us an appropriate NIOSH approved respirator.

Section 7: Handling and Storage

Ventilate spill area. Clean-up using methods which avoid dust generation,
such as vacuuming (with appropriate filter to prevent airborne dust levels
which exceed the PEL or TLV), wet dust mop, or wet clean-up. If airborne
dust is generated, us an appropriate NIOSH approved respirator.

Section 8: Exposure Controls and Personal Protection

Engineering Controls:

Exposure Limits:

Note: This material contains greater than 99% Zinc Sulfide.
No TLV or PEL has been established for zinc sulfide. The TLV for
particulates not otherwise classified is 10 mg/m3. The PEL for
particulates not otherwise classified is 15 mg/m3.

Note: This material contains Copper and Aluminum in concentrations
of less than 1% and are part of the chemical structure. The PEL and TLV
for copper dust and mists is 1.0 mg/m3. The PEL for copper fumes is 0.1mg/m3.
The TLV for copper fumes is 0.2 mg/m3.

OSHA Vacated PELs:
Engineering Controls: If user operations generate dust or fumes,
ventilate area to prevent accumulation.

Personal Protection:

Inhalation: Use appropriate respiratory protection where
atmosphere exceeds recommended limits.

Skin: Protective clothing including chemical resistant gloves,
such as long sleeves or a lab coat should always be worn when working
with this material. Open shoes should not be worn either. When handling
heated materials, also be sure to use heat-resistant gloves, boots and
face protection.

Eye: Always use chemical safety goggles, even for working with
small quantities, such as the loading of small chunks into a tungsten
basket for vacuum evaporation.

Other protective measures: Always have safety shower and eye
bath nearby. Wear dust mask. This material is air and moisture
sensitive. Store under nitrogen and in a cool dry place.
