Emergency overview: Prolonged contact may cause skin irritation. Vapors may cause irritation of respiratory tract. Ingestion may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or pain. Appearance: Clear amber liquid. Flash Point: >200° C. Warning! Target Organs: Skin, eyes. Potential Health Effects Eye: Contact may cause slight irritation. Skin: Weakly irritating to skin. Ingestion: May cause nausea, pain, or vomiting. Inhalation: Vapors may cause irritation of respiratory tract. Chronic: Prolonged exposure may cause slight irritation of skin.
Eyes: Upon contact, wash eyes throughly with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes, holding the eyes open. Remove contacts if present. Seek medical attention. Skin: Flush area with copious amounts of water. Remove contaminated clothing, wash thoroughly with soap and water. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse. If irritation persists, seek medical attention. Ingestion: Upon ingestion, dilute with 2-4 glasses of water. Induce vomiting only under medical recommendation. Seek medical attention. Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. If victim is not breathing, provide artificial respiration. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Notes to Physician: Treatment should focus on preventing absorption into system, and providing supportive therapy.
Flammability: Combustible if heated.
Autoignition Temperature: N/A
Flash Point: >200° C (open cup method).
General Information: Wear full protective equipment including self containing
breathing apparatus.
Extinguishing Media Small Fires: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical, dry sand, water spray.
Tank Fires: Foam
Unusual Fire/Explosion Hazards: Irritating or highly toxic gases may be generated
during combustion of carbon monoxide, sulfur oxides, hydrogen sulfide, and
acetylaldehyde.
Hazardous combustion products: See Unusual fire/explosion hazards.
General Information: Non essential personnel should be evacuated upon release of product. Proper protective equipment should be worn at all times. If possible, eliminate all sources of ignition and keep the area well ventilated. Spills/Leaks: Contain the spill and absorb with inert material (earth or dry sand). Place absorbed material in closed chemical waste container. Dispose of in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Prevent product from entering sewers, drains, or other waterways.
Handling: Always wear protective equipment appropriate to the task. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Always use adequate ventilation. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse. Avoid sources of ignition, sparks, open flames, oxidizing agents, and strong alkali. Storage: Store closed containers in a cool, dry location. Keep away from all sources of ignition, strong oxidizers, and strong alkali. Keep out of the reach of children.
Engineering Controls: This product should only be used with local exhaust ventilation. Safety shower and eye wash stations should be readily accessible in work area. Exposure Limits: Chemical Name ACGIH NIOSH OSHA - Final PELs Liquid Diethoxymethane Polysulfide Polymer N/A N/A N/A Personal Protective Equipment Eyes: Chemical safety goggles or glasses with side shields are required. Skin: As necessary to prevent contact with skin. Clothing: Protective clothing such as long sleeves or a lab coat should be worn. Neoprene or nitrile gloves are recommended. When handling heated materials, also be sure to use heat-resistant gloves, boots and face protection. Respirators: If ventilation is insufficient, a NIOSH approved respirator should be used.
