Section 3: Hazard Identification

Emergency overview:
Flammable, Corrosive
This material is extremely destructive to the tissue of the mucous
membranes, the upper respiratory tract, the eyes, and the skin.

Appearance: Colorless liquid

Flash Point: 127.4°F (53°C) Closed Cup

Target Organs: Central Nervous System

Potential Health Effects

Eye: Causes burns. Eye contact harmful.

Skin: Causes burns. Harmful if absorbed through skin. Skin contact
may cause sensitization.

Ingestion: Harmful by ingestion.

Inhalation: Harmful by inhalation. Inhalation may cause sensitization.
Symptoms of exposure may include burning sensation, coughing, wheezing,
shortness of breath, laryngitis, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Exposure
may lead to edema of the larynx and bronchi, chemical pneumonitis, and
pulmonary edema.

Section 4: First Aid Measures

Eyes: In case of eye contact, immediately flush eyes with copious amounts
of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting the eyelids. Seek medical attention.

Skin: In case of skin contact, flush skin with copious amounts of water for
at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated shoes and clothing. Seek medical
attention.

Ingestion: If the victim is alert and conscious, rinse mouth out with water.
Seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting.

Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. If breathing stops, give artificial
respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Seek medical attention.

Notes to Physician: Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Section 5: Fire Fighting Measures

General Information: Flammable liquid. Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions.
Containers may explode under fire conditions. Flash back danger - vapor may travel
back considerable distance to a source of ignition and flash back.
Flash Point: 127.4°F (53°C) Closed Cup
Explosion Limits:
	Lower: 0.9%
	Upper: 6.3%
Autoignition Temperature: 410°C

Extinguishing Media:
Alcohol foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide for small fires. Flooding quantities
of water as a mist or spray for large fires. Solid streams of water may be ineffective.

Protective Equipment:
Wear full fire fighting protective clothing, including a full face piece, positive
pressure, self contained breathing apparatus to prevent skin and eye contact.

Section 6: Accidental Release Measures

General Information:
Evacuate area. Eliminate sources of ignition. Use non-sparking equipment.

Spills/Leaks:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, rubber boots, rubber gloves.

Cover with inert material such as sand, soda ash, or dry lime. Place in sealed
containers for disposal. Ventilate area. Wash spill site after pick-up is complete.

Section 7: Handling and Storage

Handling:
Use only in a chemical fume hood – do not breathe vapor. Use rubber gloves,
chemical safety goggles and protective clothing to avoid all eye and skin
contact. Avoid prolonged or repeated exposure.

Storage:
Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry area away from all sources
of ignition.

Section 8: Exposure Controls and Personal Protection

Engineering Controls:
Safety shower, eye wash station and chemical fume hood required for work area.

Exposure Limits:

Chemical Name ACGIH NIOSH OSHA - Final PELs
Benzyldimethylamine n/a n/a n/a

Personal Protective Equipment

Eyes: Chemical splash goggles with face shield.

Skin: Chemical resistant gloves to prevent skin contact.

Clothing: Protective clothing to prevent skin contact.

Respirators: Follow the OSHA respirator regulations found in 29CFR 1910.134
or European Standard EN 149. Always use a NIOSH or European
Standard EN 149 approved respirator when necessary. If risk assessment
indicates that air purifying respirators are needed, use a full-face respirator
with multi-purpose combination respirator cartridges.
