Emergency overview: This is a clear, red-colored solution which is an oxidizer. This is a corrosive solution, which can irritate or burn contaminated tissue. The product poses no unusual flammability hazards. Symptoms of Over-Exposure by Route of Exposure: This solution can be very irritating to contaminated skin, eyes, mucous membranes, and contaminated tissue. Inhalation: If mists or sprays of this solution are inhaled, this product may cause pulmonary irritation, irritation of the mucus membranes, coughing, and a sore throat. Inhalation of large amounts of this solution may cause headaches, coughing, difficulty in breathing, lung irritation, and pulmonary edema. Contact with skin, or eyes: Contact with the eyes will cause irritation, pain, and reddening. Prolonged contact may cause blindness. Skin contact may cause reddening, discomfort, and irritation. Prolonged skin contact may cause burns. Other effects which may occur after ingestion include nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal irritation, burns to mouth and throat. Injection: Accidental injection of this product, via laceration or puncture by a contaminated object may cause pain and irritation in addition to the wound. Health Effects or Risks from Exposure: An Explanation in Lay Terms. In the event of exposure, the following symptoms may be observed: ACUTE: This solution is irritating to eyes, skin, mucous membranes, and any other exposed tissue. If inhaled, irritation of the respiratory system may occur, with coughing, and breathing difficulty. Prolonged exposures may result in burns. CHRONIC: Persistent irritation may result from repeated exposures to this solution. Long-term exposures to relatively high doses of this solution may lead to liver, kidney, or lung damage.
Skin Exposure: If spilled on skin, immediately begin decontamination with running water. Minimum flushing is for 15 minutes. Remove exposed or contaminated clothing, taking care not to contaminate eyes. Victim must seek immediate medical attention. Eye Exposure: If chemical is splashed in eyes, open victim's eyes while under gentle running water. Use sufficient force to open eyelids. Have victim "roll" eyes. Minimum flushing is for 15 minutes. Inhalation: If chemical is inhaled, remove victim to fresh air. If necessary, use artificial respiration to support vital functions. Remove or cover gross contamination to avoid exposure to rescuers. Ingestion: If chemical is swallowed, CALL PHYSICIAN OR POISON CONTROL CENTER FOR MOST CURRENT INFORMATION. If professional advice is not available, do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water immediately. Victim should drink milk, egg whites, or large quantities of water. Never induce vomiting or give diluents (milk or water) to someone who is unconscious, having convulsions, or who cannot swallow. Victims of chemical exposure must be taken for medical attention. Rescuers should be taken for medical attention, if necessary. Take copy of label and MSDS to physician or health professional with victim.

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards:
When involved in a fire, this material may decompose and produce
iodine, potassium oxides, zinc and aluminum oxides, calcium oxides,
and nitrogen oxides. This ink may discolor runoff water.

Special Fire-Fighting Procedures: Incipient fire responders should
wear eye protection. Structural fire fighters must wear
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus and full protective equipment.
If this product is involved in a fire, fire run-off water should be
contained to prevent possible environmental damage.
Spill and Leak Response: Uncontrolled releases should be responded to by trained personnel using pre-planned procedures. Proper protective equipment should be used. In case of a large spill, clear the affected area, protect people, and respond with trained personnel. In the event of a release where sprays or mists may be generated during clean-up, minimum Personal Protective Equipment should be Level C: triple-gloves (rubber gloves and nitrile gloves, over latex gloves), chemically resistant suit and boots, hard-hat, and Air-Purifying Respirator (with Acid Gas/ Particulate Filter). Use supplied air respiration protection during response procedures to non-incidental releases in which oxygen levels are below 19.5%. Absorb spilled liquid with polypads or other suitable absorbent materials. Neutralize residue with sodium bicarbonate or other acid-neutralizing solution. Decontaminate the area thoroughly. Place all spill residue in a double plastic bag and seal. Dispose of in accordance with Federal, State, and local hazardous waste disposal regulations (see Section 13).
Work Practices and Hygiene Practices: Avoid getting this product ON YOU or IN YOU. Wash hands after handling chemicals. Do not eat or drink while handling this solution. All work practices should minimize the generation of splashes and aerosols. Storage and Handling Practices: All employees who handle this material should be trained to handle it safely. Avoid breathing sprays or mists generated by this product. Store containers in a cool, dry location, away from direct sunlight, sources of intense heat, or where freezing is possible. Store containers in secondary containment, away from caustic compounds. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Wash thoroughly after using this material. Workers must be thoroughly trained to handle this product without causing over-exposure. Protective Practices During Maintenance of Contaminated Equipment: Follow practices indicated in Section 6 (Accidental Release Measures). Make certain application equipment is locked and tagged-out safely. Always use this product in areas where adequate ventilation is provided. Decontaminate equipment using sodium bicarbonate or another acid-neutralizing agent, followed by a triple-rinse with water, before maintenance begins. Collect all rinsates and dispose of according to applicable Federal, State, or local procedures.
Ventilation and Engineering Controls: Use with adequate ventilation. Use a mechanical fan or vent area to outside. Respiratory Protection: Maintain airborne contaminant concentrations below guidelines listed in Section 2. If respiratory protection is needed (i.e. Air-Purifying Respirator with Acid Gas/Particulate Filter), use only protection authorized in 29 CFR 1910.134, or applicable State regulations. Use supplied air respiration protection during response procedures to non-incidental releases in which oxygen levels are below 19.5%. Eye Protection: Splash goggles or safety glasses. Face shield should be worn when working with solutions over 1 gallon in volume. Hand Protection: Wear Neoprene Rubber or Vinyl gloves for routine industrial use. Use triple gloves for spill response, as stated in Section 6 of this MSDS. Body Protection: Use body protection appropriate for task. An apron, or other impermeable body protection is suggested. Full-body chemical protective clothing is recommended for emergency response procedures.

How to Detect this Substance (warning properties):
The normal litmus-paper test will be difficult to run, due to the
color of this stain. Litmus paper would turn red. Otherwise, the
distinct color of this solution would indicate a release of this product.
Stability: Stable.
Decomposition Products: Calcium oxides, potassium oxides, aluminum oxides, zinc oxides, hydrochloric acid, iodine, nitrogen oxides. Materials with which Substance is Incompatible: Strong bases, strong oxidizers, and water-reactive materials. Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur. however, clinical studies with animals exposed to relatively high doses
of Aluminum Chloride Hexahydrate and Zinc Chloride have produced
teratogenic effects.
Reproductive Toxicity:
This product is not expected to cause reproductive toxicity effects
in humans; however, clinical studies with animals exposed to relatively
high doses of Zinc Chloride have produced adverse reproductive effects.
A mutagen is a chemical which causes permanent changes to genetic material
(DNA) such that the changes will propagate through generational lines.
A teratogen is a chemical which causes damage to a developing fetus,
but the damage does not propagate across generational lines. A
reproductive toxin is any substance which interferes in any way with

Pre-existing dermatitis may be aggravated by over-exposure to this
product. Additionally, pre-existing kidney, lung, and liver conditions

Environmental Stability: This product will decompose to release nitrate and iodide salts, as well as other inorganic compounds.
