Emergency overview: Prolonged exposure may cause allergic skin reaction, kidney damage, or liver damage. Prolonged exposure may also cause headaches, nausea, drowsiness, or unconsciousness. Appearance: Clear liquid. Flash Point: 10.0° C / 50.0° F (TCC) Warning! Target Organs: Skin, kidneys, liver. Potential Health Effects Eye: May cause irritation of the eyes. Skin: This product is moderately irritating to skin. May cause skin sensitization. Ingestion: This product is potentially harmful if swallowed. Inhalation: May be irritating to nose, throat, or respiratory tract. Chronic: May cause headache, nausea, drowsiness, or unconsciousness.
Eyes: Flush eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes, while holding eyes open. If irritation develops or persists, seek medical attention. Skin: Immediately wash affected areas with soap and water. Seek medical attention. Contaminated clothing should be removed and discarded to avoid further exposure. Ingestion: Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If product is swallowed, immediately provide 2 glasses of water. Seek immediate medical attention. Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and seek immediate medical attention. If victim is not breathing, provide artificial respiration. Notes to Physician: Treat supportively and symptomatically.
General Information: Wear full protective clothing with a self-contained breathing apparatus set to positive pressure in fire conditions. Auto Ignition Temperature: 815.0° F / 435.0° C. Flash Point: 50.0° F / 10.0° C (TCC). Flammability: Flammable. Hazardous Combustion Products: Flammable vapors. Unusual Fire/Explosion Hazards: Heat may cause polymerization. Containers may explode if heated. Vapors can travel to sources of ignition and flashback Extinguishing Media: Use water spray, foam, dry powder, or carbon dioxide. Protective Measures: NIOSH/MSHA approved self contained breathing apparatus when fighting fires, along with full protective clothing.
Spills/Leaks: Absorb any spill with an inert material. Transfer liquids and solid material to separate containers that are approved for recovery or disposal. Any contaminated monomer may be unstable. Add inhibitor to prevent polymerization. Spills on porous surfaces may contaminate groundwater.
Handling: Always wear appropriate safety equipment while handling this product, including chemical splash goggles and an air purifying respirator (MSHA/OSHA approved) equipped with organic vapor cartridges and dust/mist filters when airborne concentrations are up to ten times the TWA/TLV. Storage: Do NOT store under oxygen-free environment. Leave air space over liquid surface in all containers and introduce air periodically if product is stored more than six months. Monomer shelf life is one year. Containers are hazardous when empty.
Engineering Controls: Local exhaust is required when working with this product. Safety showers and eye wash stations should be readily available in work area. Exposure Limits: Chemical Name OSHA - PEL OSHA - TWA Methyl methacrylate 100 ppm (410 mg/m3) 100 ppm (410 mg/m3) Dimethyl p-toluidine 10 mg/m3 2.5 mg/m3 Personal Protective Equipment Eyes: Safety glasses or chemical splash goggles are required. Skin: Butyl rubber gloves should be used to prevent skin contact. Clothing: Long sleeve lab coat. Respirators: A NIOSH/MSHA approved air purifying respirator with an organic vapor canister should be employed when airborne concentrations are expected to be above indicated exposure levels.
