Emergency overview:
This material is not hazardous by OSHA Hazard Communication
Definition. This material possesses no known hazards to health.
Signal Word:
CAUTION!
Physical Health Hazards:
Dry dust may form respirable particulates if disturbed.
If this material gets into the eyes, it could be irritating.
Never allow material to remain on a surface to dry out; that
way the potential hazard is eliminated. Wipers used for the
polishing should always be disposed of in an approved container.
Physical state: Paste
Color: Light pink
Odor: Faint, mild ammonia odor
Odor threshold: No data available
Potential Health Effects:
Routes of exposure
Eye contact, ingestion, skin contact
Signs and Symptoms of Acute Exposure:
This material if used properly, should not pose any kind of
real hazard. If the material is used improperly, for example,
if applied to a hot surface, organic vapors will be given off,
and if this was done in an improperly ventilated area, an
explosion hazard could be created.
Skin contact:
Could be an irritant.
Inhalation:
Material is an irritant at high levels of exposure; can
cause headache and nausea. Consult physician.
Eye contact:
Mechanical irritation is possible; can be irritant.
Ingestion:
Ingestion is unlikely, but if it does occur, material could
be expected to be an irritant. Drink water after rinsing
out mouth first. Try to prevent vomiting.
Chronic Health Effects Summary:
No known chronic health effects.
Conditions Aggravated by Exposure:
No known conditions are aggravated by this material.
Work/Hygienic Practices:
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Carcinogenicity:
NTP: Not applicable
IARC Monographs: Not applicable
OSHA Regulated: Not applicable
Take proper precautions to ensure your own health and safety before
attempting to rescue and providing first aid. For specific information
refer to the Emergency Overview in Section of this MSDS.
Inhalation: If symptoms are experienced, move victim to fresh
air, if symptoms persist, obtain medical attention.
Eye Contact: Wash eyes with clean low-pressure water.
Continue to rinse for 15 minutes.
If irritation persists, seek medical
advice.
Skin Contact:
Wash skin with soap and water until soapiness is removed.
If irritation persists, seek medical advice.
Ingestion:
If product is swallowed, first rinse out mouth several
times to remove material from mouth and to keep more from
being swallowed. Give water to drink to wash alkaline product
into stomach. Milk may be used to reduce the irritant effects
of kerosene. Do not induce vomiting.
NFPA Rating: Not known
Flammability classification:
Not classified.
Flash Point/Method: Higher than 51.5°C
Auto-Ignition Temperature: Not known
Flammable Limits: Lower: Not applicable
Upper: Not applicable
Hazardous Combustion Products:
Specific Dangers: Combustion products may include carbon monoxide,
oxides of nitrogen, oxides of sulfur, and
unburned hydrocarbons.
Special Conditions to Avoid:
Organic dust particles in the atmosphere are combustible and
may be explosive. Keep away from heat, sparks, flame and all
other ignition sources. Keep container closed. Clean up dust
accumulations. Prevent dust accumulations and dust clouds,
If used according to instructions, this kind of situation should
never develop.
Extinguishing Media:
Any suitable medium for extinguishing the supporting fire. Use
water to keep fire-exposed containers cool. For fire specifically
involving this product, use dry foam, dry chemical or water spray,
CO2, sand, or earth to extinguish the fire.
Fire Fighting Instructions:
Protective Equipment/Clothing: Wear a NIOSH approved positive
pressure self-contained breathing apparatus and firefighter
turnout gear. This should be selected on the basis of the
supporting fire.
Instructions: Use flooding quantities of water until well
after fire is out.
See Sections 8 and 13. Release response: Pick up with dry cloth and retain for recycle or disposal for spills involving up to 5 liters. Do not flush spilled material to the sewer or the environment. Formation of flammable vapor/air mixtures possible. Reportable Quantities: See Section 15: Regulatory information. For larger spills: If possible, ventilate the area. The spilled material should be scooped into a suitable container for subsequent disposal. Consult local waste authority, Environmental Protection Agency, local council or an expert on advice for disposal.
Handling: Use in well ventilated areas. Wear suitable gloves if prolonged exposure is contemplated. Storage: Store away from excessive heat and away from strong oxidizing agents. Keep container tightly closed to prevent evaporation of liquid components. Store in a cool, dry, frost-free place and well out of the reach of children.
Occupational Exposure Limits:
The product contains white spirit which has an Occupational Exposure
Limit of: OELsol 600mg/m3 (8 hour Time Weighted Average)
(Source: UK Document EH40 Occupational Exposure Limits UK)
Engineering Controls:
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Respiratory Protection:
None necessary under normal working conditions.
Hand Protection:
PVC or rubber gloves with prolonged use.
Eye Protection:
Chemical resistant goggles if eye contact can accidentally occur.
Skin Protection:
Wear an apron or coveralls if exposure is likely to be prolonged.
The product does not present a significant hazard in normal use.
Data above refers to prolonged contact with large quantities of product.

Reactions with Air and Water:
Does not react with air, water or other common materials.
This product contains white spirit and kerosene for which the following apply: Inhalation: Vapor concentrations above recommended exposure limits are irritating to the eyes and respiratory tract, may cause headaches and dizziness, are anesthetic and may have other central nervous system effects. Skin contact: Low order of toxicity, frequent or prolonged contact may cause dermatitis. Eye contact: Irritating but does not injure eye tissue. Ingestion: Minimal toxicity. The viscosity of this preparation mitigates the risk of aspiration into the respiratory system during ingestion or vomiting. Chronic Effects/Carcinogenicity: None expected Reproductive/Development Effects: No reproductive or developmental effects are expected.
This product contains 10-20% of white spirit which is highly volatile and will rapidly evaporate to the air if released into the environment. Based upon data for similar materials white spirit is classified as R51/53 Toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. White spirit is expected to biodegrade rapidly and be "readily" biodegradable according to OECD guidelines. It can degrade rapidly in air and is expected to be removed in a waste water treatment facility. Although data exists to show that white spirit is not expected to persist in the aquatic environment, European Classification rules require that it be classified as potentially causing long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.
Consumer Instructions: Empty tubes may be disposed of with normal
household waste.
Bulk Quantities: Dispose of in accordance with local, regional or
national requirements.
