Section 3: Hazard Identification

Emergency overview:
Clear, colorless liquid. Thermal decomposition product is hydrogen fluoride
(HF), which is corrosive.

Appearance: Clear, colorless liquid

Flash Point: Not available

Potential Health Effects

Eye: May cause slight eye irritation by eye contact.

Skin: May cause slight irritation by skin contact.

Ingestion: May cause nausea and vomiting if ingested.

Inhalation: May cause respiratory tract irritation.

Section 4: First Aid Measures

Eyes:
In case of eye contact, flush with copious amounts of water for at least 15
minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Skin:
Wash thoroughly with mild soap and water. Flush with lukewarm water for at least
15 minutes.

Ingestion:
If conscious and alert, give three or four 8 ounce glasses of water or milk and
seek medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
If person is unconscious, immediately take person to the hospital.

Inhalation:
If symptoms of discomfort or irritation occur, immediately remove to fresh air.
Give oxygen or artificial respiration as needed. Seek medical attention.

Notes to Physician:
None additional.

Section 5: Fire Fighting Measures

General Information:
Fluoropolymers will degrade upon prolonged heating or in fire conditions to
liberate carbonyl fluoride and hydrogen fluoride (HF). This gas is toxic if
inhaled or if it comes in contact with moist skin. HF has an ACGIH TLV of 3 ppm
(2.6 mg/m3) and an OSHA PEL TWA of 3 ppm. Carbonyl fluoride has and ACGIH TLV
TWA and OSHA PEL TWA of 2 ppm (5 mg/m3).

Use self-contained breathing apparatus and skin protection for acid gas
exposure. Do not enter fire area without proper protection. Fight fire from a
safe distance, using air monitoring if possible.

Extinguishing Media:
Water spray, water fog, foam, dry chemical, carbon dioxide

Flash Point: Not available

Explosion Limits: Not available
    Upper: Not available
    Lower: Not available

Autoignition Temperature: Not available

Section 6: Accidental Release Measures

General Information:
Extinguish all sources of ignition and evacuate the area. Use caution – the spill
area may be slippery.

Spills/Leaks:
Absorb spilled material onto vermiculite or other inert material and place spilled
material into a covered container for disposal. Use Perfluorosolv PFS1 Solvent to
clean up any residual material. Dispose of in accordance with all federal, state,
and local environmental regulations.

Section 7: Handling and Storage

Handling:
Wash hands thoroughly after use and before handling food or applying cosmetics.
Do not use food or tobacco products in the immediate area. Keep containers
closed.

Storage:
Store in closed containers in cool, dry area. Store away from heat, sparks, and
flames. Do not store near combustible materials.

Section 8: Exposure Controls and Personal Protection

Engineering Controls:
Local exhaust ventilation at a rate of 50 feet per minute.

Exposure Limits:

Chemical Name ACGIH OSHA - Final PELs
