There are some very good reasons why one might want to have some of these SEM mount adapter on hand just for that special instance that could arise where they could be really needed.

Use a standard JEOL 9.5 or 10 mm round cylindrical mount in any SEM accommodating a 1/8" (3 mm) pin type mount

This adapter permits one to take their already mounted and prepared samples, on normal JEOL round mounts, 9.5 or 10 mm diameter, in SEMs manfuactured by AMRAY®/FEI-Philips®/LEO® accommodating a pin type mount without further sample preparation.
