Introduction:
The Misonix™ Brand of ultrasonic cell disruptors is recognized as being the
top in the world. It is found in the laboratories of the world's leading
researchers. They are all of robust construction and are designed to
operate year and year without requiring any kind of major maintenance.
Gentleness in a cell disruptor:
One of the most often asked questions by prospective customers has to do
with "gentleness". Clearly there is recognition that the ultrasonic energy
should not destroy one's sample or at least destroy it beyond the intended
point. The term "gentle" means different things to different people. Any of
the Misonix Brand of ultrasonic cell disruptors is suitable for disrupting,
for example, yeast cells. Which model to use will depend on the volume of
material being processed at one time. Some instruments contain a
motor-driven device which does not begin to have the disruptive capability
of the Misonix Ultrasonic Cell Disruptors. We believe that the motor-driven
units are greatly inferior to ultrasonic approaches and therefore do not
carry such equipment. Should your experiments indicate that you need a
more "gentle" approach, then either operate at a lower power level or
process a larger volume of material at one time.
