A reticle is the pattern or sometimes called the "scale" via which, when combined with a magnifier, permit the close measurements of distances on any image or micrograph, transparent or opaque. There is some confusion so to just what these items are to be called. The first firm in the world to develop a high quality line of measuring aids of this type was Graticules Ltd. of the United Kingdom. In the early years, at times, researchers incorrectly referred to these products as "graticules" instead of their correct generic term, reticles. There also were some incorrect spellings appearing in the published literature such as "reticules" instead of "reticles". So today, one can find all three terms in use depending on where one lives, or received their education. For the sake of consistency, we have tried to standardize around the spelling "reticle" but probably one could find a few inconsistencies on our own website, for which we apologize.
Offered are reticles from PEAK®, Graticules™ Ltd. and also our own SPI Supplies® brand.
