These unusually low cost portable microscopes, which we call "MACROSCOPEs offer many advantages over traditional inspection microscopes making them useful not only in typical microscope laboratory applications but also in a variety of non-microscopy related fields of application as well.

The exceptionally wide field of view coupled with the positionally correct image make the MACROSCOPE units easy to use even for those untrained in microscopy. They are also great teaching aids in school science classes at any level as an introduction for young students to the whole idea of microscopy and the concept of magnification.

The simple, lightweight,rugged design makes them ideal for use in the field as well as the laboratory.

These features coupled with their convenient camera adaptability however, put them well beyond the realm that of some kind of a toy for students. They are also used by serious technical people and researchers all over the world for a quick and inexpensive means of documenting the visual state of an important sample or material.

Not too many years ago one of us saw a MACROSCOPE being used in the big bazaar in Istanbul for measuring the number of "knots" per cm in handmade Hereke silk Turkish carpets! Of course there are many other uses much closer to home: stamp collectors, forensic document examination, Autograph examination, just to name a few examples.

MACROSCOPE 45 provides 45X magnification over a wide 4.8mm (3/16") field of view. It incorporates a measuring scale providing measurements in inches or mm. With the close-up lens removed the unit can be used for distance viewing.
